Oral Language Showcase at St Patrick’s Katanning
This term St Bernard’s students in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 have been preparing for the first Oral Language Showcase at St Patrick’s Primary School in Katanning. The Oral Language Showcase took the place of the Kojonup Speech and Drama Festival which was not held this year.
Students have chosen poetry and prose readings to perform, rehearsed at school and at home, and at school some more! On Thursday 13th June the students travelled to St Patrick’s to present their work. Students selected from Year 4, 5 and 6 performed individual poetry recitals and prose readings to their year groups. All students performed beautifully and should be proud of their efforts.
At recess, students, staff and parents enjoyed a delicious morning tea provided by the St Patrick’s P&F Association. Our students then enjoyed playing outside with the children from St Patrick’s.
After recess, students were seated in the hall for the choral speaking presentations. All of the students from St Bernard’s performed in a choral speaking presentation, including our Year 3 students. It was the first time our Year 3 and Year 4 students were involved in a Speech and Drama festival and their confidence and performances were incredible. All of St Bernard’s students really shone in the choral presentations and presented amazingly well.
Congratulations to Elizabeth Mathwin who won first place in the Year 6 Poetry section and Sofia Tunui who won first place in the Year 6 prose reading section. There was only one winner for all of the choral speaking presentations across the year levels and this went to a St Bernard’s team of students! Congratulations to Josh Sanders, Ruben Stansbury, Travis Goodall, Elizabeth Mathwin and Sofia Tunui, who performed a lively version of ‘The Three Little Pigs’.
Well done to all of our St Bernard’s performers – you should all be very proud of yourselves. Thank you to St Patrick’s staff for organising and hosting the Oral Language Showcase.
Thank you to the parents who supported their children by attending, we greatly appreciate your support.
