Spare Parts Puppet Threatre
The Spare Parts Puppet Theatre visited St Bernard’s Catholic Primary School last week to perform ‘Blueback’, based on the book by Tim Winton. Students from Kindy to Year 6 were lucky enough to watch the performance which was very entertaining and thought-provoking.
Following the performance two workshops took place. Students in Years 1-3 were extremely creative and designed and made puppets that lived underwater. We saw blowfish, swordfish, mermaids and even a Mexican guitar playing fish!
Students in Years 4-6 were involved in a performing workshop. The students worked with a range of different puppets and experimented with their voices and movements. At the end of this workshop, students were given the opportunity to perform in front of the class and demonstrate their new skills.
It was a great opportunity for our Year 5/6 class to dive deeper into Winton’s novel which they have been studying this term. They said the performance and the workshop helped to really bring the novel to life.
All the students at St Bernard’s had a very creative and fun day with the Spare Parts Puppet Theatre!
